SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa or The Republic of South Africa is a country located at the southern tip of Africa, it is divided into nine provinces. South Africa has three capital cities: Cape town, is the legislative capital; Pretoria, is the administrative capital; and Bloemfontein, is the judicial capital.
The nine provinces of South Africa are: The Eastern Cape, The Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, The Northern Cape, North West, and The Western Cape. All of them have a different density of population but in total South Africa have about 50 million of people.
Although the country is classified as semi-arid, it has considerable variation in climate as well as topography. There some interesting places like: The great inland Karoo plateau, is very dry; the Kalahari desert, extremely hot in summer, it can be icy in winter; Garden Route, is rather less tropical but also green; North of the Vaal River, the Highveld is better watered; the Tropic of Capricorn have wildlife fame; Sutherland the coldest place in the country
There are a lot of places to visit if you go to South Africa most of them are related with nature. Some of the famous national parks are The Kruger National Park (it is the favorite tourist destination), Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (in the heart of the Kalahari desert); There are also a large number of smaller parks, like the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park, Addo Elephant National Park, Pilanesberg National Park or the i Simangaliso Wetland Park.
The cuisine of South Africa has a variety of multicultural sources and stages, is heavily meat-based and has spawned the distinctively South African social gathering known as a braai or barbecue. Some of South African dishes are Bobotie (meatloaf with raisins and with baked egg on top), Frikadelle (meatballs), Sosaties (grilled marinated meat on a skewer), Tomato bredie (a lamb and tomato stew).
There is great diversity in music from South Africa. The South African music scene includes Kwaito, a new music genre that had developed in the mid 80s and has since developed to become the most popular social economical form of representation among the populous.
South Africa's most popular sports are soccer, rugby and cricket. South Africa hosted the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the first one hosted in Africa. Other popular sports include: boxing, hockey, surfing, and running.
South Africa have many festivals like arts festivals, Afrikaans music and performance festivals, national choral festivals, Garden Route festivals, cherry festivals, rock and folk music festivals and even a whale festival happen all over the country at various times of the year.
Art un south Africa is represented by different forms from theatre to dance, opera to cabaret, fine art to craft art, classical music to jazz, poetry readings to lectures, every art form is represented in all main cities and larges towns.
South Africa is a great country to visit!
